Hosting your own contest on Progsity

Updated Oct 23, 2026

Any signed-in account can run a programming contest on the Progsity judge, with a live scoreboard. Drafting is free.

Getting started

  1. In your dashboard, press Create and choose Contest, or press Create a contest on the Host a contest page.
  2. Set the date and rules: the time, the scoring, the freeze and how people register (open, a passphrase, invite only, or one login per team for an onsite contest).
  3. Add problems: your own, written in Coding problems, or ones you are allowed to use.
  4. Add your staff (moderators, authors, testers). Staff cannot compete in the contest they run.
  5. Schedule it. Contestants register on the contest's page.

Guides, in your dashboard, walks through a contest from draft to results, step by step.

What the free plan allows

  • One open contest at a time (a draft, scheduled or running contest holds the place until it ends).
  • Up to 100 people in a contest.
  • Up to 4 new contests a month.

Creator Pro and Exam Pro raise these limits, and an Event Pack covers one big contest. The Host a contest page shows each option and works out your price from how many people, where they sit and how often.

Rated or not

A contest you make is unrated. You can ask for it to be rated and say why; a Progsity admin decides, before it starts and never after.
