How certificates work

A track certificate is not issued for finishing the lessons. It is issued on a Skill Test: timed, in the browser, with questions drawn at random from a large pool, your code run against hidden tests, and submissions compared for similarity afterwards. The score, 0 to 1000, is printed on the certificate with the band it falls in.

Identity is the account and the name on the certificate. The test is not proctored: no webcam, no ID check, and the certificate and the verify page say so.

The Skill Test is not open yet. This page will say so the day it is.

Score bands

Score is 0 to 1000, across three sections: concepts, read and debug, build.

  • Advanced900 - 1000Certificate issued
  • Proficient750 - 899Certificate issued
  • Working600 - 749Certificate issued
  • Foundation400 - 599Retake
  • Not yet0 - 399Retake

Hiring someone?

Every certificate has a public page carrying the score, the three sections, the date and the test version.
